Attorney Kenneth Chesebro Pleads Guilty in Trump Fake Elector Scheme

Chesebro Admits to Conspiracy in Criminal Racketeering Indictment

Second Lawyer to Enter Guilty Plea in Case Related to Trump's Attempt to Overturn 2020 Election Results

Kenneth Chesebro, an attorney who played a key role in the Trump campaign's "fake electors" scheme, has pleaded guilty to a criminal racketeering indictment. The guilty plea comes just one day after another lawyer involved in the scheme, John Eastman, also pleaded guilty. Chesebro's guilty plea marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the Trump campaign's efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

According to the indictment, Chesebro and other members of the Trump campaign conspired to create false Electoral College certificates in seven states where Biden had won the popular vote. These certificates, which falsely stated that Trump had won the electoral votes in those states, were intended to be submitted to Congress in an attempt to block Biden's certification as president.

Chesebro has admitted to his role in the conspiracy, including drafting a memo outlining the plan and advising Trump campaign officials on how to implement it. He has also agreed to cooperate with the government's investigation, which is ongoing.

The guilty pleas of Chesebro and Eastman are a major step forward in the prosecution of those involved in the Trump campaign's efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. The investigation is expected to continue, and additional charges are possible.
